“LETTING GOD WORK HIS WAY”

I am Richard Nyinge, from Namanga near the border of Kenya and Tanzania. In 1996 when our beloved mum passed away, there were five of us- four boys and one baby girl only three months old, who became orphans. That is when our lives, already difficult, became much worse. I don’t remember much but the following year, when I was seven years old, a man known by Edward Marona miraculously took me to Kajiado Children Home, and my life changed completely.

It wasn’t easy to leave Namanga and my brothers and sister. It took almost a year to really adjust, but during school holidays I visited my village and that made it easier. In the home, I enjoyed being with other children, playing games, learning how to be clean, studying and walking to school each day together. During those days we prayed to God for provisions through our sponsors. We sang and danced together. The home nurtured me spiritually and because my mum helped me to know God and introduced me to the church when she was alive, I could not stop thinking about God. I had so many questions to ask -why had He taken my mum away? Our pastor at the home, John Matinda, inspired me spiritually. He taught us God’s ways, how to pray, and it was during that time, that I got the passion of serving God in my life, despite Him taking my mum.

At Kajiado Children’s Home, we were encouraged to study hard. I studied and prayed for God to direct me in the right way. He knows all about me. I received a good education from where I started in baby class, through primary school, and passing the exams to go to high school, with my needs being met. God has been faithful to me and many others from the home. I grew up desiring to serve God in my life as a Pastor.

I thank God for the staff at the home who took care of me in a Christian way, and for my sponsors, Linda and Warren Bannister, who have supported me from high school through Moffat Bible College in Kjiabe. They were the ones who connected me to Moffat since Warren serves there occasionally as a pathologist. They are coming to my graduation from college on 12th July 2014. I am then joining another university for higher studies.

Kajiado Children’s Home has been of great of help to me. It helped me know God better and grow spiritually. The home has made me realize my dreams and it has given me the desire of helping and sponsoring others some day – after giving me the chances to realize my dreams. I need to reach people with the gospel of Jesus after my education, opening churches in remote areas and training people of the word of God.

In my heart I always carry Kajiado Children Home for what it made me to be. I will go back and serve there because this is where I grew up. And I will mentor the children there so they will see through my example that God is our Father.

Matthew 25; 34-40 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You? And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you did it to Me.’’

God values what we give to sponsor the children at Kajiado. Through it, their lives and their families lives are more valuable. The way my life has become, so their lives will become – through your generosity. God will receive all the credit, and God will reward you in His own way.

May God bless ALL those who have contributed to my life, and those who contribute to other children’s lives at the home too.
